HSA and FSAs
Full- and Part-time employees are eligible to participate in Comfort Systems USA benefits once they have satisfied the waiting period (first of the month following the date of hire). There are some additional conditions for part-time employee eligibility. Review the Eligibility and Enrollment section of the Benefits Guide for complete details.
The medical plans are offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield and Quantum Health.
If you enroll in the Silver or Bronze HSA medical plan, you are eligible to participate in an HSA. You can make tax-free HSA contributions up to the IRS limits and adjust your anytime. Your contributions can be used to pay for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses — now or later, since unused funds roll over each year. Explore eligible items at the HSAstore®.
Comfort Systems USA Annual Contributions*
- $500 for employee-only
- $1,000 for employee + dependents
*Contributions are made quarterly.
You can cover your eligible dependents on the Comfort Systems USA benefits, including your legal spouse, children up to age 26, and disabled dependent children age 26 or older in certain circumstances. Verification of dependent eligibility will be required upon enrollment.
At a high level, the Gold Plan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), while the Silver and Bronze Plans are High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs). All medical plans have access to the Blue Cross Blue Shield network of doctors, but here’s how they differ:

If you enroll in the Gold medical plan, you are eligible to participate in the Healthcare FSA. During enrollment, you can elect tax-free FSA contributions up to the IRS limits. Your contributions can be used to pay for qualified medical and prescription expense. You cannot change your FSA elections in the middle of the year unless you experience a qualifying life event.
FSAs are “use it or lose it” accounts, so the funds must be used by December 31 of the plan year. A limited amount may be roll over to the next plan year. Claims must be submitted by March 31 of the year following the plan year.

The benefits you elect during Open Enrollment will be effective of January 1 and will remain in effect until December 31 unless you experience a qualifying life event.
In most cases, the benefits for newly hired or newly eligible employees will be effective on the first of the month following your date of hire or date of eligibility. Review the Eligibility and Enrollment section of the Benefits Guide for complete details.
Yes. Prescriptiondrug coverage is automatically included when you enroll in a Comfort SystemsUSA medical plan. You may fill your prescriptions at any in-network retailpharmacy or use the convenient mail order service for long-term medications. Besure to review the other cost-savings pharmacy options in the Benefits Guide.
You can participate in the DCFSA even if you do not elect any other benefits. The DCFSA allows you to set aside pre-tax funds up to the IRS limits for expenses associated with caring for your children under the age of 13 or your elderly dependents.
The DCFSA is a “use it or lose it” account, so the funds must be used by December 31 of the plan year. Claims must be submitted by March 31 of the year following the plan year.

Yes. Virtual care is automatically included when you enroll in a Comfort Systems USA medical plan. You can access care online 24/7 from the convenience of your home for a variety of conditions. Board-certified doctors or therapist can help with allergies, cold & flu symptoms, sinus problems, and many behavioral health concerns.
No. These accounts are separate. IRS regulations probit transferring funds between the two accounts.
